Cathedral of Our Lady of Toledo – it’s worth seeing!
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places to see in Toledo. This attraction is the Gothic cathedral – one of the most impressive in Spain. Its exterior is spectacular. The first element of the cathedral that attracts attention is the soaring tower with a square base and a characteristic pointed end. You also cannot pass by the portals of the main façade indifferently, from which the artistic beauty emanates. There are a total of 22 chapels inside the cathedral.
The interior of the Toledo temple is decorated with numerous Gothic stained glass windows. In the sacristy there is a pinacotheca of Spanish and Flemish paintings. This important Toledan monument used to have a military function. Currently, it houses the Spanish Army Museum, which attracts thousands of tourists. Toledo – what to visit? Alcantara Bridge
While on holiday in Spain and visiting Toledo, you cannot miss the historic Alcántara Bridge, which crosses the Tagus (Tajo) River. In the past, it was one of the main entrance gates to the city. Today, this Roman bridge is an important landmark of Toledo. The attraction originally had three arches, but after the bridge was destroyed and rebuilt in the 10th century, two remained. At the end of this beautiful bridge, there is a medieval tower on one side and a baroque triumphal arch on the other. Every tourist visiting Toledo should set foot in this noteworthy place.
Puerta de Bisagra in Toledo – a monument from before the 10th century
Puerta de Bisagra is the most famous monumental gate in Toledo. It was built during the reign of the Moors (before the 10th century). Then, in the 16th century, it was rebuilt in the Renaissance style. The gate consists of 2 different façades separated by a courtyard with a statue of Charles V. The outer façade of the gate is decorated with a large royal coat of arms with a characteristic double-headed eagle and a sculpture of the Guardian Angel. The façade facing the city is made up of two turrets crowned with roofs resembling pyramids.

When visiting Toledo, you can’t forget about the old Jewish quarter, where there is, among others, the El Transito Synagogue. It depicts Mudéjar art and is the oldest surviving synagogue in the city. The interior design is delightful. The walls are decorated with a floral motif intertwined with inscriptions in Arabic and Hebrew. The Sephardi Museum is located here, where a collection of exhibits depicting the history and culture of Jews who were once residents of Toledo in Spain is exhibited.
